Here comes the time of the year which actually indicates the beginning of each year, as it refers to the ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. Coming originally from one of the countries in Central Asia, me and my family used to celebrate New Year on a symbolic date of March 21st.
Living in tropical country for the past three years, the only climates better described in terms of seasons change is dry or wet. However, there is one exceptional sign of this time of the year, that attracts everyone's attention in Asia -- Japanese Cherry (Sakura) Blossom.
The beauty of this nature's phenomena hard to describe with words and meant to be admired in silence.
Personally, I haven't had a chance to glance it on the lands of it's origin. My first and only trip to Japan happened to be last year in May, and as the natural wonder only lasts for a handful of days between March and April, which makes timing essential for anyone hoping to catch the bloom at its best, it meant I was a tiny bit late...
One of the privileges of residing in Singapore, is this country's creative decisions to host experimental events like "Blossom Bliss" display, which took place at Flower Dome of The Gardens By the Bay this year. And who cares if this floral rhapsody blooms only for about one or two weeks?!
Nevertheless, last Friday, March 24th, was the official last day, when we could bask ourselves in all the floral madness and which I was lucky enough to capture it on my camera.
For those who willing to appreciate the vibrant pink and white petals of a wide variety of trees, including Sakura in Japan, below is the forecast for 2017:
According to Weathermap, Somei Yoshino (Yoshino cherry), the most popular sakura variety, will start blooming on March 24 in Tokyo, March 28 in Kyoto, March 25 in Fukuoka, and March 28 in Osaka. The source.
